Find research papers

Search millions of published papers, find free versions, and cite them in one click.

Only your search words are sent to OpenAlex, a free public research database. Saved references stay in this browser.

How to use the paper finder

  1. Type a topic, keywords, a paper title or an author's name.
  2. Narrow the results by year, sort by most cited or newest, or show only papers that are free to read.
  3. Open a paper, read the free version where one exists, or select Cite to copy a ready-made reference.

About this tool

Results come from OpenAlex, an open catalogue of scholarly work covering journals, conference papers, books and preprints in every subject. Every paper listed is real and traceable through its DOI or publisher page, unlike references suggested by AI chatbots, which are often invented.

Citation counts help you spot the most influential papers on a topic, and the free-to-read filter finds legal open-access versions hosted by publishers and university repositories.

Questions

Are these papers free to download?

Papers marked Free to read have a legal open-access version, linked by Read free version. Others may need library or subscription access through the publisher.

How is this different from Google Scholar?

It searches a similar range of research, and adds one-click citations in six styles and a reference list you can export. Use whichever finds what you need.

Can I save papers for later?

Yes. Select Save to my references and the paper is added to your list in the citation generator, saved in this browser.
