Questions

Which keyboard should I choose for Hindi?

Remington GAIL is the Kruti Dev typewriter layout used in most court and state typing tests. Inscript is the government standard layout, used in SSC and CPCT. Both are built in here, so you don't need to install anything. If you already use a Hindi keyboard on your computer (for example Mangal Remington or Google Input), choose My own Hindi keyboard.

How are gross speed, net speed and accuracy worked out?

Gross speed = keystrokes ÷ 5 ÷ minutes. Net speed = gross speed − (mistakes ÷ minutes). Accuracy = correct words ÷ typed words. A wrong, missing or extra word is a full mistake; a word that differs only in punctuation or capital letters is a half mistake, as in SSC evaluation.

What is KDPH?

Key depressions per hour: your keystrokes per minute × 60. SSC CGL DEST, for example, asks for 8,000 KDPH.

Can I use backspace?

Yes, by default. Turn off "Allow backspace" to practise for exams that block it.

Does the built-in Hindi layout work on a phone?

The Remington and Inscript layouts are for computer keyboards. On a phone, choose "My own Hindi keyboard" and type with a Hindi keyboard app.
